Places worth visiting
Plaka
The hilltop capital, with whitewashed alleys, panoramic Aegean sunsets and the Archaeological Museum that holds a replica of the Venus de Milo.
Sarakiniko
Milos' most photographed sight — a surreal, moon-like landscape of smooth white volcanic rock dropping into deep blue sea, a short drive from Adamantas.
Kleftiko
Towering white sea cliffs, caves and turquoise water, once a pirates' hideout. Reachable only by boat from Adamas — a must on any Milos trip.
Klima
A tiny, picture-perfect fishing village where colourful "syrmata" boat houses are built right at the water's edge.
Pollonia
A relaxed seaside village on the north-east tip, with a sandy beach, excellent tavernas and ferry links to neighbouring Kimolos.
Catacombs of Milos
Among the most important early-Christian catacombs in the world, carved into the rock near Trypiti — a remarkable glimpse into the island's history.
Ancient Theatre
A beautifully preserved Roman-era marble theatre overlooking the bay, close to where the Venus de Milo was unearthed.
